Get to know Limpias

Limpias is a municipality in the autonomous community of Cantabria, in the lower course of the Asón valley. It borders Voto and Colindres to the west, Laredo to the north, Liendo to the east and Ampuero to the south. It is home to the Church-Shrine of the Holy Christ of the Agony, a 17th century crucifix said to be miraculous.

In Limpias the Asón forms an estuary before it flows into the Cantabrian Sea, at the height of Colindres. It has traditionally been used for recreational fishing and as a natural pool by locals and summer visitors. The riverside path runs along the Asón and replaced an old royal road.
