Les Borges Blanques is the capital of the comarca of Les Garrigues, in the province of Lleida, Catalonia. Until 1900 it was simply called Borjas. The town sits where the land watered by the Urgell Canal meets the plateaus of the Central Depression.
Olives, almonds, cereals and fruit trees are the main livelihood here, along with industry and services. The N-240 and C-233 roads and the North-East motorway pass through the municipality. Trains on the Tarragona to Lleida line stop in the town.
