Get to know La Victoria de Acentejo

La Victoria de Acentejo is a town in the north of Tenerife, in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The Second Battle of Acentejo, the last fight between Guanches and Castilians in the islands, took place here in 1495. For this reason the Canary Islands government declared it a Historic Town in 2014.

The landscape is mostly rural, with cereals, vineyards and, lower down, banana plantations. Winemaking matters here as across the comarca, red wine above all. The TF-5 motorway runs through the municipality.
