Get to know la Selva

Selva is a comarca in the Girona region of Catalonia, set between the Serralada Transversal range and the Costa Brava. Almost all of it lies in the province of Girona, with only Fogars de la Selva in the province of Barcelona. Its capital, Santa Coloma de Farners, sits in the middle of the comarca.

Blanes and Lloret de Mar on the coast have grown far larger than the capital. Inland, a plain holds Sils, Caldes de Malavella and Santa Coloma de Farners, and beyond it rise the steep Guilleries mountains. The comarca also takes in Vidreres, Maçanet de la Selva and Arbúcies, and its woods mix holm oak, cork oak, pine, oak and beech.
