La Guardia de Jaén is a municipality in the province of Jaén, in Andalusia, in the eastern part of the Metropolitan comarca of Jaén. It borders Mancha Real, Pegalajar and Jaén. The Guadalbullón river runs through its territory.

In Iberian and Roman times it was Mentesa Bastia. It sits at the western end of Sierra Mágina, on the Cerro de San Cristóbal, from where it dominates the Guadalbullón valley. It is the closest town to the capital and the best connected with it, by the Jontoya bridge road, the N-323 and the Bailén-Motril motorway.
