Get to know Igualada

Igualada is the capital and central market town of the Anoia comarca, in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia. It lies west of Barcelona and of the mountain and monastery of Montserrat, on the left bank of the Anoia River. The surrounding district is rich farming and wine-producing land.

The city is split into Llevant, Centre, Sesoliveres - la Massa, Ponent, Pla de Sant Magí and les Comes. Its old town dates from the 11th century, with narrow, irregular streets, and the newer town around it has broad, regular ones. Every July it hosts the European Balloon Festival, the largest hot air balloon festival in Spain.
