Get to know Guecho

Getxo is a town on the coast of Biscay, in the Basque Country, and part of Greater Bilbao. It sits on the right bank of the last stretch of the Bilbao estuary and the eastern shore of the Abra bay. Largely an affluent residential area, it is the second-largest suburb of Bilbao.

Many mansions and houses here were built by the wealthy bourgeoisie during industrialisation. The Vizcaya Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands in Getxo. Besides the estuary, the town also has a stretch of open sea coast.
