Get to know Grañén

Grañén is a town in the comarca of Los Monegros, in the province of Huesca, in Aragon. It sits low on the Monegros plain and is the capital of the Flumen subcomarca.

The municipality also takes in the villages of Callén, Curbe, Fraella and Montesusín. During the Spanish Civil War, a British medical unit set up a field hospital here, close to the front at Huesca. In 2011 every series of the number that won first prize in the Christmas Lottery was sold in Grañén.
