The Province of Granada lies in the eastern part of Andalusia, with the city of Granada as its capital. It reaches the Mediterranean along the Costa Tropical and borders Albacete, Murcia, Almería, Jaén, Córdoba and Málaga. Mulhacén, the highest peak of the Iberian Peninsula, stands in Sierra Nevada, a national park shared with Almería.

Its comarcas are Huéscar, Baza, Guadix, Los Montes, Vega de Granada, Loja, Alpujarra Granadina and Alhama. Motril and Almuñécar on the coast are the largest towns after the capital.
