Get to know Gironés

Gironès is a comarca in the province of Girona, in eastern Catalonia, halfway between the sea and the mountains. Its capital is Girona, also the capital of the province, where more than half of the comarca's inhabitants live. It once also included the municipalities that now form Pla de l'Estany.

It borders Selva, Baix Empordà, Alt Empordà, Pla de l'Estany and Garrotxa. Besides Girona, its municipalities include Salt, Cassà de la Selva, Llagostera, Celrà, Sarrià de Ter, Bescanó and Sant Gregori.
