Hondarribia is a town at the eastern tip of Gipuzkoa, on the west shore of the Bidasoa estuary, which forms the border with Hendaye in France. Together with Irun and Hendaye it belongs to the cross-border Bidasoa Txingudi consortium, part of the Basque Eurocity of Bayonne-San Sebastián. It is both a resort and a residential town.

The town stands on a small promontory over Txingudi bay, and a service boat crosses to Hendaye. Its old quarter has walls and a castle, Mount Jaizkibel rises behind the town, and a road leads from the beach to Cape Higuer. San Sebastián Airport, with domestic flights, is in the municipality.
