Fuenlabrada is a city in the Community of Madrid, within the capital's metropolitan area. People from the hamlets of Fregacedos and Loranca founded it around a spring, and for centuries it was a village of farmers and herders. Today it has industrial estates such as Cobo Calleja, one of the largest business parks in the European Union.
The municipality is organised into areas such as Centro - El Arroyo - La Fuente, Loranca - Nuevo Versalles - Parque Miraflores, El Vivero - Hospital - Universidad, Cerro - El Molino, El Naranjo - La Serna and La Avanzada - La Cueva. It lies on a plain of the Meseta, crossed in the north by the Culebro stream. A Rey Juan Carlos University campus, the Tomás y Valiente Cultural Centre and the church of San Esteban Protomártir are all here.
