Get to know Figueres

Figueres is a town in the province of Girona, Catalonia, in the central part of the Alt Empordà comarca, of which it is the capital. It is the main urban centre of the Empordà and its economic and commercial hub, as well as the seat of a judicial district.

Salvador Dalí was born here, and the town is home to the Dalí Theatre-Museum, a large museum designed by the artist himself that draws many visitors. It is also the birthplace of Narcís Monturiol, who invented the first successful machine-powered submarine.
