Get to know Elda

Elda is a city in the province of Alicante, in the Valencian Community, and the administrative capital of the Vinalopó Medio comarca. It is known for its footwear industry, especially women's shoes, and has a Footwear Museum. Its Moros y Cristianos festival is one of the town's main celebrations.

The town sits on a fertile terrace by the Vinalopó river, ringed by mountains. Decades ago it grew into neighbouring Petrer, and locals live in the two as if they were one city. Sights include the castle keep, Castelar Square, the Palace of the Counts of Coloma and the church of Santa Ana.
