Get to know El Sauzal

El Sauzal is a town in the north-east of Tenerife, in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 18 km from the island's capital. Its name comes from the Canary willows that grow plentifully here, and the area was once called El Sauzalejo. The streets of the old centre are a fine example of traditional Canarian architecture.

The municipality has the Los Lavaderos park and the Casa del Vino at La Baranda, with a museum, tasting room and restaurant. Along the coast, the cliffs of El Sauzal and Tacoronte are a protected natural area where many seabirds shelter. The TF-5 motorway runs through it.
