El Masnou is a municipality in the Maresme comarca, in the province of Barcelona and within its metropolitan area. Its Catalan name means the new farmhouse. The town is both a tourist centre and a commuter town.

It lies on the coast between Montgat and Premià de Mar, crossed by the N-II road and a Renfe railway line. The centre mixes neoclassical, modernista and noucentista buildings. The municipal museum holds archaeology and Catalan ceramics, and a private museum is devoted to pharmacy and medicine.
