Get to know El Baix Vinalopó

Baix Vinalopó is a comarca on the southern coast of the province of Alicante, in the Valencian Community, with Elche as its capital. Crevillent and Santa Pola are its other main towns. Vinalopó Mitjà and Alacantí lie to the north, the Mediterranean to the east and Vega Baja del Segura to the south.

The Vinalopó river gives the comarca its name, though today it is little more than a stream. Most of the land is flat apart from the Serra de Crevillent, and El Fondo and the Salines de Santa Pola are protected as natural parks. Elche and Crevillent are highly industrial, while around Santa Pola people live from tourism, fishing and sea salt.
