Get to know Éibar

Eibar is a town in the province of Gipuzkoa in the Basque Country, and the capital of the Debabarrena comarca. Metalworking has always driven its economy, from finely engraved small arms to Serveta scooters. On 14 April 1931 it was the first town in Spain to proclaim the Second Republic.

The town lies along the Ego river in the Deba basin, on the border with Bizkaia. It merges with neighbouring Ermua into a single urban area, and SD Eibar plays its football here.
