Get to know Don Benito

Don Benito is a town and municipality in the province of Badajoz, Extremadura. It forms a conurbation with neighbouring Villanueva de la Serena. Its municipal area is among the largest in Spain, bigger than those of Barcelona or Valencia.

Most residents live in the town itself, while the rest are spread across six small local entities and one hamlet. The meeting of the Guadiana and Ortiga rivers has fostered farming, livestock and a sizeable food industry, though services lead the local economy. The EX-A2 dual carriageway links the town with the rest of the Vegas Altas.
