Get to know Costitx

Costitx is a municipality in the Balearic Islands, in the centre of Mallorca, northwest of the capital. It belongs to the comarca of the Pla de Mallorca and is one of the smallest and least populated on the island. It borders Sencelles, Inca, Sineu and Lloret.

Its land holds Son Corró, a talayotic sanctuary where the bronze bull heads of Costitx were found; they now sit in the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid. The Astronomical Observatory of Mallorca stands just south of the village. The municipality split from Sencelles in 1855.
