Get to know Costa del Sol Occidental

Costa del Sol Occidental, the Western Coast of the Sun, is one of the nine comarcas of the province of Málaga, in Andalusia. It occupies a narrow coastal strip between the Sierra de Mijas, Sierra Blanca and Sierra Bermeja to the north and the Mediterranean to the south. Its towns together have more people than the city of Málaga, at half the density.

Marbella, Mijas, Fuengirola, Estepona, Benalmádena and Torremolinos are here, along with Manilva, Benahavís and Casares. The coast mixes beaches, cliffs, estuaries, bays and dunes, while the rivers are short and seasonal. Campo de Gibraltar lies to the west and Málaga-Costa del Sol to the east.
