Corvera de Asturias is a municipality in the central area of Asturias, between Gijón and Avilés, and part of the comarca of Avilés. It grew fast after the Ensidesa steelworks, now Arcelor, opened and brought in workers. Its neighbours are Avilés, Gozón, Carreño, Gijón, Llanera, Illas and Castrillón.
Most residents live in Las Vegas and Los Campos, and other villages include Trasona, Cancienes, Molleda, Solís and Villa. The Trasona reservoir is used for water sports, and the forests and hills have hiking routes. The AS-17, AS-19 and A-8 roads link it with the rest of the region, and the A-8 leads to the Parque Astur shopping centre.
