Get to know Cómpeta

Cómpeta is a town and municipality in the comarca of Axarquía, in the province of Málaga, Andalusia. It spreads over the southern slope of the Sierra de Almijara, 638 m above sea level, in the foothills of La Maroma, the highest peak of the Sierra de Tejeda. The coast is about 18 km away.

Its patron saint is San Sebastián, and the town holds its fiesta on the last weekend of July. Every 15 August it celebrates the Noche del Vino, the night of the wine. Its residents, called competeños, include many people from other European countries.
