Get to know Comarca del Valle de Lecrín

Valle de Lecrín is a comarca in the centre-south of the province of Granada, in Andalusia. It borders the Vega de Granada to the north, the Alpujarra to the east, the Costa Tropical to the south and Alhama to the west. The name comes from the Arabic iqlim, gateway, and the traditional capital is Dúrcal.

Meltwater from Sierra Nevada keeps the valley green, with citrus, almond, olive and vine growing among the orchards. Walkers, birdwatchers and cyclists come for the views over lake Béznar and up to the peaks. Its eight municipalities are Padul, the most populous, Dúrcal, Lecrín, Nigüelas, Villamena, El Valle, El Pinar and Albuñuelas, the largest.
