Get to know Churriana de la Vega

Churriana de la Vega, often just Churriana, is a municipality in the centre of the Vega de Granada comarca and part of the Granada metropolitan area. Its first written mention comes from the fourteenth-century Moorish scholar Ibn al-Jatib. Some of the negotiations for the surrender of Granada between Boabdil's envoys and Isabella I of Castile were held here.

Besides the main town, it includes scattered settlements such as Arabuleila, Dailimón, La Gloria, La Parra, Puente Colorado, El Pino and Tarramonta. The river Dílar and several smaller streams cross the land, bringing water and rich soil to local farms. Its neighbours are Granada, through the Ronda district, Armilla, Alhendín, Las Gabias, Cúllar Vega and Vegas del Genil.
