Cehegín is a municipality in the Region of Murcia, in the Comarca del Noroeste, right in the heart of that comarca. The Argos and Quípar rivers cross it. It borders Mula, Bullas, Lorca, Caravaca de la Cruz, Calasparra and Moratalla.

Its fertile land has drawn Iberians, Romans, Visigoths, Arabs and Christians since prehistory. In 1982 its old town was declared a historic-artistic site. Marble extraction, apricots and nursery flowers are its notable activities.
