Castile and León is an autonomous community of Spain. It was created in 1983 by grouping the provinces of Ávila, Burgos, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Valladolid and Zamora.

This landlocked region is in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, chiefly comprising the northern half of the Inner Plateau. It includes the provinces of León, Burgos, Salamanca, Zamora, Soria, Valladolid, Palencia and Ávila.
