Castellbell i el Vilar is a municipality in the south of the Bages comarca, in the province of Barcelona, on the border with Vallès Occidental. Its capital is El Borràs, and the Llobregat river crosses it through the Prelittoral Range. The railway station links it with Barcelona and Manresa.

It is known for its cotton industry, although farming matters at least as much to the local economy. Its Gothic castle, together with Claramunt castle, controlled access to the lower Llobregat valley and to Barcelona, and the bridge over the river dates from the same period.
