Castellar del Vallès is a municipality in the province of Barcelona, in the north of the Vallès Occidental comarca. It lies near Sabadell and Terrassa, the comarca's two capitals. Its growth was tied to textiles and to the mills of the Tolrà family, who left the town many of its landmark buildings.

The Ripoll River crosses the municipality from north to south. Nearby villages include Sant Llorenç Savall, Matadepera and Sentmenat. Every year a fair is held on the feast of Sant Josep.
