Casas del Castañar is a municipality in the province of Cáceres, in Extremadura. It lies at the foothills of the Sierra de Gredos, in the Valle del Jerte, about 20 kilometres from Plasencia.

In the centre of the village, the traditional houses with timber-framed façades form winding lanes and even passages. The sixteenth-century church of Saint John the Baptist, the Legado Doctor Sayans museum and EMAC, the Espacio Morán de Arte Contemporáneo, are all here.
