Get to know Caravaca de la Cruz

Caravaca de la Cruz is a town in the Noroeste comarca of the Region of Murcia, on the left bank of the Argos river. Since 1998 it has been one of the holy cities of the Catholic Church, with the right to hold a jubilee year every seven years in perpetuity. The Basilica of Vera Cruz, which holds the Cross of Caravaca relic, dominates the town.

The old town dates back to the Middle Ages. From 1 to 5 May the town celebrates its festival with Moors and Christians parades and the Caballos del Vino, listed as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2020. The municipality borders Lorca, Cehegín and Moratalla, as well as the provinces of Granada and Almería.
