Get to know Cabra

Cabra is a town in the province of Córdoba, in Andalusia, on the route between Córdoba and Málaga. It began as the Turdetani oppidum of Licabrum, became Roman Igabrum, then a Visigothic bishopric and later the capital of a cora of al-Andalus. Olive groves are the mainstay today, with oil under the Baena designation of origin, along with rural tourism.

The Barrio de la Villa stands where the first settlement was, and the Barrio del Cerro marks the Roman expansion. Other neighbourhoods include Aradillo, Los Silos and Belén, the Barriada Nuestra Señora de la Sierra and the Pedro Garfia estate. The Mozarabic Way of Saint James and the Caliphate Route both pass through town.
