Burriana, capital of the Plana Baixa, lies between orange groves and the Mediterranean in the province of Castellón.

Get to know Burriana

Burriana, Borriana in Valencian, is a town and municipality in the Valencian Community and the capital of the Plana Baixa comarca. It sits in the lowest part of the plain, among orange groves watered by the Millars river. In the past, oranges loaded here for Scottish marmalade were dragged out to ships by bulls.

El Arenal, the main beach, holds a Blue Flag, and the seaside population grows several times over in summer. The CV-18 and N-340 roads link the town with Castelló de la Plana. James A. Michener described Burriana in his book Iberia, and a street here bears his name.
