Get to know Castaños

Castaños is a neighbourhood of Bilbao, in the Uribarri district, on the right bank of the Nervión estuary. It developed in the nineteenth century, when many families from the local middle class chose to settle here.

The neighbourhood is built around the Campo de Volantín promenade, along the river. Among its buildings stands the Olábarri Palace, known as the Port Works Building, next to the Plaza de la Salve.
