Bermeo is a town in the Busturialdea comarca of Biscay and the largest in the comarca. Founded in 1236, it was the provincial capital of Biscay from 1476 to 1602. Fishing and fish canning still drive its economy.
Its neighbourhoods include Arana, Artike, Agirre, San Andres, Almike, Arronategi, San Migel, Demiku, Mañu and San Pelaio. Sights include the port, San Juan Gate and the Ercilla Tower with its fishing museum. Euskotren trains and Bizkaibus buses link the town to Bilbao.
