Get to know la Sagrera

La Sagrera is one of the neighbourhoods of the Sant Andreu district in Barcelona. It borders Sant Andreu de Palomar to the north, La Verneda i la Pau to the east, Navas to the south and El Congrés i els Indians to the west.

Its name comes from the sagreres, a protected space of 30 paces around the churches where people and goods were safe from attack. The neighbourhood was born as a protected zone of the village of Sant Martí de Provençals.
