El Turó de la Peira is one of the neighbourhoods of the Nou Barris district of Barcelona. It takes its name from the hill of the same name in the north-west of the area, and it is known for its hill and the colourful atmosphere of its streets.
The pine wood that crowned the Can Peguera estate became a public park in 1936, but in the early 1960s the park was reduced to make room for housing blocks. In the early 1990s, many flats were found to suffer from aluminosis, and most of them were replaced or rehabilitated.
