The Gothic Quarter is the historic centre of the old city of Barcelona. It is one of the four neighbourhoods of the Ciutat Vella district and holds the oldest parts of the city.
Remains of the Roman wall and several medieval landmarks stand here, along with El Call, the old medieval Jewish quarter. Narrow streets form a labyrinthine plan that opens into small squares, and most of the quarter is closed to regular traffic.
