Get to know Baeza

Baeza is a city and municipality in the province of Jaén, Andalusia, right in its geographic centre. It belongs to the comarca of La Loma and is the seat of a judicial district. Its Renaissance monuments, among the best-preserved Italian Renaissance architecture in Spain, joined UNESCO's World Heritage list in 2003 along with neighbouring Úbeda.

The cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady is among them. Baeza is one of the three seats of the International University of Andalusia and a centre of olive oil production. The town stands like a watchtower over the Guadalquivir and became part of the Kingdom of Castile in 1226.
