Get to know Arucas

Arucas is a town and municipality on the island of Gran Canaria, in the province of Las Palmas, Canary Islands. It borders Las Palmas to the west and forms part of its urban area. The neo-Gothic church of San Juan Bautista, known locally as the cathedral of Arucas, dominates the town, and honey rum is made here from sugar cane.

The municipality includes the hamlets of Bañaderos, La Montañeta, La Fula, Presa del Pinto and Los Palmitos. Next to the old town lies the municipal park, while the Jardín de la Marquesa is a nineteenth-century botanical garden. The GC-2 motorway passes just north of town.
