Arriate is a town and municipality in the province of Málaga, in Andalusia, in the west of the province and within the comarca of Serranía de Ronda. Its name comes from the Arabic Arriadh, meaning the orchards.
It split from Ronda in 1630 and became an independent town again in 1661. Being so close to Ronda has led many of that city's workers to settle in Arriate, and the population has grown a lot. Its municipal music band, founded in 1990, plays mostly Holy Week repertoire.
