Get to know Arrecife

Arrecife is the capital of Lanzarote, in the province of Las Palmas, Canary Islands. It is the smallest municipality on the island and also the most populous. The name comes from the rock reef, arrecife in Spanish, that covers its beach.

The old centre faces the sea, with the church of San Ginés, the Castillo de San Gabriel and Calle Real. Further north lie the fishing port of Naos and the main port of Los Mármoles, with ferries to the other islands, Europe and Africa. Neighbourhoods include Centro Ciudad, La Vega, Altavista, Maneje, Titerroy, Argana Alta and Tenorio.
