Ares is a coastal municipality in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, within the comarca of Ferrol. It runs along the shore from the entrance of the Ferrol estuary to the port of Redes.

The town sits on an inlet surrounded by almost three kilometres of sandy beaches with calm water. A Rampa, O Cruceiro, Redes, Seselle, O Raso, Sabadelle and Chanteiro are the best known. The municipality is made up of the parishes of San Xosé de Ares, Camouco and Cervás.
