Altura is a municipality in the comarca of Alto Palancia, in the province of Castellón, in the Valencian Community. Its territory marks the border with the province of Valencia. It lies in the Palancia river valley, the natural route that links Aragón with the Mediterranean coast.

It is an inland municipality, right in the Sierra Calderona, and its highest peak, Montmayor, rises in its territory. The Vall de Cristo Charterhouse, one of the most important religious centres of the old Kingdom of Valencia, is here. Linked to it, the sanctuary of the Cueva Santa draws pilgrims from the comarca and nearby ones.
