The Altiplano is the northernmost comarca of the Region of Murcia, wedged between La Mancha and the Valencian Community. It borders Albacete to the north and west and the Alto Vinalopó and Vinalopó Medio to the east. Winemaking is its hallmark, with a designation of origin in both towns.

It consists of Yecla and Jumilla, and Yecla also has a strong furniture industry. The land is a set of wide upland valleys cut by dry riverbeds that drain to the Segura. Ranges of the Prebaetic System surround them, with the Sierra del Carche as the highest point.
