Altea is a town and municipality in the Marina Baixa comarca, in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community. It sits on the stretch of Mediterranean coast called the Costa Blanca and lives mainly from tourism. Its old town is a maze of streets lined with whitewashed house fronts.

The bluffs of the Serra de Bèrnia shelter it from the north, giving it an especially mild microclimate. The seafront promenade is planted with palms. Neighbouring towns include l'Alfàs del Pi, la Nucia, Callosa d'en Sarrià, Calp, Benissa and Xaló.
