Carrer a de las Piedras, 1. Almeria, Andalusia, Spain
Avenida Montserrat- Minerales · 2 min walk
A provincial capital in the far southeast of Spain, on a wide Mediterranean bay, with an exceptionally dry climate.
Almeria is a city in Andalusia and the capital of the province of the same name. Founded by Caliph Abd al-Rahman III, it grew rich in the Islamic era on a busy port trading silk, oil and raisins. The Alcazaba, the fortress-cathedral of the Encarnación and the Cable Inglés ore loader recall its past.
The city stretches between the eastern edge of the Sierra de Gádor and the Andarax riverbed, along the Gulf of Almería. Its port has ferry links with Algeria and Morocco, and the city has its own airport. Las Chocillas is one of its neighbourhoods.
