Almería lies in the far southeast of Spain on the Mediterranean, and the island of Alborán makes it the country's only transcontinental province.

Get to know Almeria Province

The Province of Almería is part of Andalusia in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, with the city of Almería as its capital, in the middle of the bay of the same name. It borders Granada, the Region of Murcia and the Mediterranean Sea. The island of Alborán, closer to Africa than to the peninsula, also belongs to it.

The province takes in the Almanzora valley and Los Vélez, along with Almería, Roquetas de Mar, El Ejido, Níjar, Vícar and Adra. Níjar is its largest municipality by area.
