Almáchar is a town in the province of Málaga, in Andalusia, in the heart of the Axarquía comarca. It is the capital of the moscatel raisin area, and its name comes from the Arabic word machar, meadow. In 2025 it had 1959 inhabitants.

It is built on a small hill between the El Borge and Almáchar rivers, 246 metres above sea level and close to the Mountains of Málaga. Vineyards, olive groves and cereal fields surround it. Málaga is 35 kilometres away and Vélez-Málaga 14.
