Alhaurín el Grande is a town in the south-central part of the province of Málaga, in the Valle del Guadalhorce comarca. The name comes from the Moors, and the Catholic Monarchs added el Grande after the conquest of 1485 to tell it apart from Alhaurín de la Torre.
The land runs from the Sierra de Mijas down to the Guadalhorce river plain, with citrus and other fruit orchards. Its neighbours are Coín, Cártama, Alhaurín de la Torre and Mijas.
